Hi guys,
I have installed "VLC Media Player" to view some mp4 files. But when I try to hear music in webradios etc. the VLC opens and show that there's no video (which is true). How can I set the Windows Media Player as standart again?
If you know the file-ending of the stream-/radio-files, how about opening Win Media Player -> Extras -> Options -> File format
and there you can choose which type of files you want to relate to Windows Media Player, i.e. which files you want to be automatically played by it.
Otherwise, download a relevant file, right-click it, properties, and then "Open with", choose program and check "Always open [these files] with this program".
There's also some registry-way of doing it, but dunno that one by heart.
I've written an tutorial on how to do it with registry. But it only works from out of your webbrowser with a certain protocol, else it wont work.
check it out here:
http://tm-manialinks.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=66
It shows how to set how to let the tmtp protocol to be opened with TMU but you select other programs and other protocols as well.
It is all excplained in the tutorial.
@UNRT
thx for answer, but first part only works for files which are on my PC, and not for webradios like
ENERGY, which I want to hear. And how can I download ?
@Hamade
At step 7 I must look for tmtp, but it isn't there

You looked at Firefox there are multiple parts written for multiple browsers and Operating Systems.
but if you use Firefox copy the code into Notepad, save it as tmtp.reg
and double click it. In your adress bar type about:config and search on tmtp.
If you dont use Firefox don't follow those steps but locate the internet explorer topic.
but this only works for prtocols if it is a filetype it wont work.
I use Firefox and that I've done.
Sry, what are protocols (last line) ?

hey all
uhm if I understood it correctly, you want your browser, firefox, to handle 'audio plugins' with another media player (i.e. WMP) instead of the VLC MP
try the following:
- open Firefox - oh wait! apparently FF is running right now

- go to Tools (Extras) < Options... (Einstellungen...)
- open the tab "Applications" (Andendungen)
- look for "Windows Media Audio/Video playlist (video/x-ms-asf)" and set "Action" to
"Microsoft® Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin"
- do the same to "Windows Media Audio/Video playlist (video/x-ms-asf-plugin)" and optionally to whatever "file type" has been blemished by VLC MP

a restart of FF should not be necessary
hope that will solve the problem

An more known protocol is HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol)
Protocols are used to specify and user by IP adress and sort out their rights, most internet broswers have a read only license for website unless your IP is listen in an admin file hosted on the server.
tmtp is also an protocol but its used by trackmania to transfer tracks, audio, video and 3d models or 2d skins to the user.
