yeah..
thats the question.. id really like to have my own computer but it costs so fckin much!
Should i just buy NVidia GeForce 8800GT? and update this computer?
What are the specs. of your current computer? =)
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.8GHz
Memory: 1022MB RAM
HardDrive: 200 GB Total
it solely depends on how much money you can spend..
your actual pc is slow..very very slow.
buying a powerful (but oudated) card like the 8800GT wouldn't help you much, because your CPU is clearly a brutal bottleneck for your system. and i bet your motherboard will be very much outdated too.
these days, prices for new (and good) hardware are as cheap as i have never seen them before, so you might want to get a computer which is halfway up2date..
an acceptable budget computer with retail hardware would look like this (in terms of hardware 1$ = 1€

)
intel cpu ~50 euros
motherboard, budget but stable ~40 euros
2gb ram, decent brand ~40 euros
gfx card from used 7950GT (60€) to a new 9600GT (100€), that won't do much.
==
190 to 230 euros
==
plus
cheap power supply unit which can handle these components properly ~25 euros
case ~20 euros for a standard thing with no particular features..
sums up to
235 to 275 euros for an acceptable complete pc...
Yeah true, but if your willing to spend 300 euros now on a minimum specs. computer.. Save a little bit longer for something better. Because otherwise in approx. 1 year you will be having trouble again with playing the new games.
a cpu like the e2160 or e2180 isn't bad at all and can be oc'ed to remarkable levels by raising the fsb alone..
mikoz cant play the "newest" games in highest settings anyway, most of us can't, you'd need some way more serious hardware... but that's for the nerds..
my cpu/gpu: E6400+9600GT:
i benchmark TM with PC3/4xAA in 1280x1024 between 172-192 FPS, depending on what other settings i have... if my mobo wasnt a bit outdated (only 4x pciexpress

), the gfx would even be faster...
im willing to spend somethin like 400~500€
PS. Im Nerd + i play only racing games

Definetly true, but there are lots of people that dont like to overclock their hardware (like me

)
But I think that if you like to play games you will need to spend bit more then 300 euros (personal, if you settle for less it is definetly playable)
(next wednesday I can order my new computer^_^ : a Nerdcomputer like Tstar said it xD)
well mikoz, for 400-500 € you wont have any problems configuring a very nice machine.
Omg, for me this just sounds like letters and numbers 0,o
Fortunetly I only play 1 game ( a lil bit too much though)
Im lucky my PC works fine (at least the graphics

)
