refering to this thread here, everyone can participate here and make a tutorial translation in his own language.

if you want to join a translation team, just go in your countries national subforum and look for the translation thread.

if there is no national subforum for your country/language, write in here and i will create it...

any reasonable language is welcome (=more than 100 people actually speak this language in Trackmania ^^)

Technical Guidelins for translating a Tutorial

Quote:1. Install (KompoZer) as your writing & html editor. It's freeware and it's the best alternative to a comercial program like Dreamweaver.

2. In KompoZer: Menu/File/Load Weblocation.
Enter the URL of the english tutorial (e.g. http://www.tm-creative.org/tutorials/gen.../index.php )
and click "Create".

3. Translate the Tutorial as you see it on your screen.

4. In KompoZer: File/Menu/Save as...
Save your file to harddisk (e.g. as MyTutorial.html).

5. Check carefully, that all original file references in your saved html file are still original, which means: pointing to the root directory of the website (starting with "/", and NOT some location on your harddisk !!!)
You can do this with the "Source Code" tab in KompoZer or with any text viewing software...

at the headpart of the saved file you MUST find this line:

it MUST NOT look something like this:

6. Load it up in the national translation thread.

PLEASE: Follow this procedure, don't under any circumstances use your Webbrowser to save the page to harddisk to edit it..

As soon as a webbrowser saves the page to harddisk, all file refeferences will be ULTIMATELY RUINED (=pointing to where the browser saved the files for the webpage on your harddisk), and will NOT BE USEABLE for our purposes anymore.

Guideline for content:
- If you want to make a translation, let people in the thread know BEFORE you start writing, to avoid double work...
- only translate TEXT, don't change anything else (no images,no file urls/references etc..)
- keep as close to the original text as possible
- if you don't understand something, ASK, before you translate something wrong
- be accurate (translate all there is, proof-read what you've written)

UDPDATE:
when saving an existing tutorial page with kompozer, you might have to change 1 line in the sourcecode to be able to edit them locally. put the stylesheet.css file in the same directory as the .html/php file you are editing...

About Dreamweaver, it saves a copy into the disk and it's perfect
